Using WildThing
Unloopers

The WildThing unlooper and it's clones are powerful tools that have the ability to repair or destroy an H card. Because of this, we will keep to the basics in this guide. Follow intructions closely, and you can prevent most cards from becoming ice scrapers. Deviate, and it is quite possible that the card could become severly looped or even killed. That said, do not fear the unlooper. Simply pay close attention and learn.

There are several programs that will run with the unloopers, but for the sake of ease of use, we will use the two most popular. If you do not have BasicU06 and WildThing 3.0, download, unzip and install them now...

Using BasicU 0.6

The first program we will deal with is BasicU06. Start the program and notice that it looks very much like BasicH. That is because it is written by the same author and he wanted to present the program in a familliar format. Now go to the configuration menu and select the comm port your unlooper is connected to. Now that the program is configured, it is ready to use. BasicU is not designed to perform all the functions that your unlooper is capable of performing. Because of this, I use it mainly to remove unknown scripts from previously programmed cards, and to copy bin files from programmed cards. It can also be used to clone a card. Both reading/saving bins and cloning are covered in their respective sections in this guide.

To remove a script and clean a card with BasicU, simply insert the card in the unlooper, start BasicU and click the One Step Clean icon. This will leave the card at 33 USW.

Using WildThing 3.0

WT 3.0 is one of the older of the WildThing software offerings, but is also one of the most reliable. Because the newer versions tend to be a bit buggy, we will not cover them. There aren't too many problems that WT30 can't fix. Configuration consist mainly of setting the comm port to the one your unlooper is attached to. This is done in the Options/Setup menu. Set up the comm port and simply ignore the other options. They are not necessary at this time. It is also important to know that you should not insert your card in the unlooper until after WT30 is running, and you have chosen the action you want to take. Once the card is inserted, the action initiates automatically...

Removing scripts and cleaning cards:

To remove a script and clean the card back to a near virgin state, click the Fix Card button and insert the card. The unlooper is very quick and you will see the progress bar sweep across the window in only a couple of seconds. You will see the Completed message in the lower left corner of the window when the job is finished. The card is now ready to be programmed.

Unlooping

One of the biggest advantages of WT30, is its ability to unloop a card. It is also capable of restoring ATR's to cards that have been 99'd, FF'd or have no ATR. The proper proceedure for unloopoing a card with WT30 is to run the four Glitches in the middle of the window. These glitches are 99-1, 99-2, Magic-1 and Magic-2. In a situation where a card has been hit with one of the above mentioned ECM's, or is simply looped, start by running the glitches, in order, one at a time, until the glitch fails or the card pops. Remember to remove the card after running each glitch and re-insert it after choosing the next. You'll know when the card pops when the numbers at the lower left of the window start flying. When you see this happening, leave the process alone until it finishes. This could take some time, but the end result will be a saved card. Often, the glitches must be run over and over, several times before the card comes back, but be patient, it will work. I've seen cases where it took several hours to fix a card, but remember, that little piece of plactic is worth about $300. Once the card is repaired, run Fix Card. You're now set for programming...
